Before you start
- A Google account that can access the spreadsheet and a selected Data Weaver client where you can import datasets.
- Identify the worksheet and header row to import. You will choose the file in Google Picker and review its values before saving.
Set up the connection
- Connect Google Sheets from Sources through the hosted Google flow. Use Browse spreadsheets to choose a file in Google Picker; URL entry is a fallback for files already accessible to the grant.
- Choose the worksheet and header row. Preview raw rows and columns, review duplicate/summary-row exclusions and interpretations, and name the dataset before confirming import.
- To replace an imported snapshot, choose Refresh, review the latest values and explicitly confirm replacement. Schema changes may require a new import rather than reusing stale column choices.
Permissions requested
- The selected-file permission is https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file. It gives Google's app selected-file read/write rights; Data Weaver only reads spreadsheet metadata and cells.
- Choose a spreadsheet in Google Picker to grant access to that file. Data Weaver does not change cells, upload files or create spreadsheets, and does not request Drive-wide access. This selected-file flow does not additionally require spreadsheets.readonly.
Data read and actions performed
- Chosen worksheet values and reviewed column/row interpretation become a stored client-scoped snapshot. Imported data is separate evidence, not automatically added to advertising or website totals.
Refresh and sync
- Refresh is manual and reviewed. Source cell changes do not silently replace stored rows; generic scheduled source sync does not refresh Sheets snapshots.
Limitations
- Only accessible, explicitly chosen files can be read. Large sheets and invalid/changing headers can prevent preview or replacement.
- A snapshot is not a live spreadsheet view. Dates, currencies and business meanings need your review.
Troubleshooting
- If Picker fails, verify the connected Google identity and selected-file authorization. URL entry cannot bypass Google's access checks.
- For preview conflicts or schema drift, reload the preview and review again, or import a new snapshot. Reauthorize only when the grant is missing or expired.
Disconnect and delete
- Removing the Google connection stops future reads but retains imported snapshots. A disconnected snapshot cannot be refreshed; reconnect and import again to create fresh connected evidence.
- Delete retained datasets separately in Data Weaver or request Data deletion. Remove the provider grant separately in Google Account third-party connections; revoking it does not erase existing snapshots.
