Before you start

  • A Google identity with access to the intended YouTube channels and source-management permission in Data Weaver. Sign in with the account that owns the channels you want to select.

Set up the connection

  1. Connect YouTube from Sources in the correct client and review Google consent.
  2. Explicitly select the accessible channels and save. Selecting none syncs none.
  3. Run Sync; interpret the result as a snapshot, not daily viewing performance.

Permissions requested

  • Read access is used to list the signed-in user's channels and their channel statistics. No video upload, deletion or channel editing is performed.
  • Review Google's consent screen and authorize the account that owns the channels you want to select. This connection reads channel snapshots rather than requesting the separate YouTube Analytics authorization for daily analytics.

Data read and actions performed

  • The connector reads channel names and lifetime view, subscriber and video counts for discovery. The stored dashboard snapshot records the selected channels' combined lifetime view count on the current date.

Refresh and sync

  • Default cadence is hourly with manual Sync available. Refresh replaces the current observation; a lifetime count recorded today is not today's views.

Limitations

  • No daily YouTube Analytics series, watch-time report or complete historical backfill is provided.
  • Use this connection for channel snapshots. For questions or presentations that need daily YouTube performance, export the relevant analytics and review them through the separate CSV upload workflow.

Troubleshooting

  • Missing channels require checking the connected Google identity and channel access, then updating selection.
  • If daily analytics is expected, this snapshot connector cannot supply it. Check sync history for failed snapshots; reconnect only for authorization errors.

Disconnect and delete

  • Remove the source connection to stop Data Weaver reads and initiate remote cleanup.
  • Remove the Google third-party grant separately to revoke provider access. Retained answers and application data require separate deletion requests.
